Baltimore, Maryland (Jul. 6, 2015) – On Jul. 8, 2015, the International Association of Ice Cream Distributors & Vendors (IAICDV) will be honoring the association’s Hall of Fame recipients with a ceremonial plaque hanging at the International Dairy Food Association’s (IDFA) headquarters in Washington, D.C. The plaque will hang there in perpetuity.

The IAICDV is inviting anyone in the D.C. metropolitan area to join the association and the award recipients at 10:00 a.m. on Jul. 8, 2015 to honor the industry leaders who have earned the prestigious IAICDV Hall of Fame award. In addition to industry leaders and association representatives, including the IAICDV Executive Committee, many of the past award recipients will be in attendance along with their family and friends.

“This event is extremely important to the association, as we recognize the great achievements and commitments of those who shall be immortalized on this plaque,” said IAICDV Executive Director Taylor Dubord. “The individuals being recognized during this ceremony are true industry pioneers whose efforts have left an indelible mark and for whose service we are all extremely humbled and grateful.”

The ceremony will celebrate the achievements and contributions of several Hall of Fame members, including Doc Abernathy, inventor of the iconic Bomb Pop; Earl and Sid Barish, pioneers in Canada’s bicycle and cart vending industry; Bill Conway and James Conway, creators of the mobile ice cream business with their Mister Softee product; Stephan Feldman, Manny Ginsberg, Robert Holder, Al Reynolds, James Roberts, Jay Schwartz, Founders Fathers and a driving force for the creation and perpetuation of the ice cream vending industry; and Eric Walsh, former chairman of Unilever Ice Cream and champion for the mobile vending industry.

The IAICDV Hall of Fame was established in 2009 to recognize outstanding and extraordinary achievements in the ice cream industry. Induction into the IAICDV Hall of Fame is the highest honor in the industry. It is bestowed upon individuals who have dedicated their careers to the overall betterment of the ice cream industry as well as to having participated in trade associations, educational efforts and community involvement.

The IAICDV Hall of Fame Committee, comprised of five members selected by the association’s executive committee and either an honorary director or past IAICDV president, considers the merit of each nominee.
